We’ve been hearing from many of our students that you’re cooking together more with your kids. Nothing could make us happier! Join us for a cook-along with Rosemary Gill, Milk Street’s Director of Education. Rosie will show you a simple technique—blooming spices—that brings new life to two treats: a simple molasses cookie and a humble bowl of popcorn. During class, you’ll experiment with making a custom spice blend, learn about the science of heating spices, and use your blend to make yourself a sweet and savory snack. This class is designed for kids ages 8 and up cooking with a parent or other adult.

The cook-along is optional. If you'd like to cook with Rosie, keep an eye out for your registration confirmation and follow-up emails, which will include all the ingredients and equipment you'll need to cook along.

Join Milk Street's Food Editor Matthew Card as he makes shakshuka, a Middle Eastern dish of eggs poached in a spicy tomato and pepper sauce that is a staple in his family meal rotation. Cooking School Director Rosemary Gill will cook along, making changes that transform the recipe into a Greek-inspired dinner. Same idea, two meals. You can cook along in real time to make either version or just watch. Baking bread gets a bad rap as a finicky pursuit, dependent on years of experience tinkering with yeasts, flours and ovens. In reality, it's not that hard at all, and the results are well worth the effort. In this class, you’ll see how flatbreads can be the perfect fit for a weekday dinner. We'll use our Yogurt Flatbreads to illustrate the fundamentals of baking science, the basics of shaping and mixing, and our philosophy on flavor development. All this with a flatbread that comes together in 40 minutes flat.
