Dear
Elizabet,
We'll never know what happened to Phoebe. Her story is one of the most mysterious we've ever encountered here at the Soi Dog shelter.

She appeared out of nowhere, spotted by a staff member on her way home one evening.

She thought she was seeing things at first, when she suddenly spotted this dog walking on its front legs. Both of Phoebe's hind legs were missing.

There were no cuts, no gaping wounds. There was no blood.

Whatever had caused Phoebe to lose her hind legs had clearly happened a long time before.

When our vet examined her, she confirmed that Phoebe's legs had not been amputated in a medical procedure or by a veterinary surgeon.

We can only assume that at some point, Phoebe had endured some terrible trauma, such as being struck with extreme force by a speeding vehicle, resulting in both her back legs being severed.

But what happened after that - and how she didn't die of her injuries - is destined to remain a mystery. Only Phoebe knows.

Elizabet, I can't imagine what would have happened to Phoebe if she'd remained living on the streets with only two legs and nobody to care for her.
But it's a sad reality that there is no government funding available for suffering animals like her and these rescues cost money. Will you please help? (https://emergency.soidog.org/ert?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=phoebe)

Without people like you, homeless animals like Phoebe simply have no hope of a future free from suffering. Will you please pledge a small monthly gift, so that more animals like her can get the help they desperately need? (https://emergency.soidog.org/ert?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=phoebe)

I'm so happy to be able to tell you that thanks to support from animal lovers like you, we were able to fit Phoebe with a custom-made wheelchair so she can get around more comfortably.

She now lives in the safety of the Soi Dog shelter, while we search for her very special forever home.

Elizabet, every day, we receive phone calls and emails about homeless animals in need.
Some are sick, some are injured. Many have been cruelly abused, others have simply been abandoned - discarded in the street like trash. All are suffering.

It really doesn't take a lot to make a huge difference. Just a few dollars a week can change everything for an animal that previously had no hope. You can make this happen by becoming a member of our Emergency Response Team now. (https://emergency.soidog.org/ert?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=phoebe)
Your membership can fund many more rescues such as Phoebe's, ensuring these innocent animals get the help they desperately need.

Thank you for any help you can provide to create more smiles like this.

P.S. I can think of no greater way to start 2019 than by committing to save suffering animals. This year, will you be a part of these stories? (https://emergency.soidog.org/ert?utm_source=email&utm_medium=email&utm_content=phoebe)
