I'm overwhelmed with gratitude, Friend.

Because of this community, we secured every single dollar of our generous match and met last week's fundraising goal. That means we can continue to ramp up our work to protect more children from gun violence and pass background checks in the Senate.

After the initial shock and sadness of seeing a mass shooting on the news, most people move on with their lives – not thinking that kind of horrific violence could ever happen to them. I used to be one of those people – until my beautiful butterfly Dylan was murdered in his first-grade classroom at Sandy Hook Elementary.

I'll never get my baby boy back. I'll never feel another of his deep hugs or hear his infectious laugh ever again. It constantly feels like my heart has been ripped from my chest, and I don't want any other parent to experience that pain. That's why I'm doing everything I possibly can to save precious lives from gun violence.

I wrote an op-ed for CNN about the urgency of this lifesaving work as we see a surge in mass shootings across the country, and it would mean so much to me if you took a moment to read it:

Click here to read about why each and every one of us must use our voices to demand action from lawmakers to protect children from gun violence.

Life without Dylan never gets easier. What makes it possible to keep moving forward is knowing there are dedicated supporters like you who are helping me honor my baby boy by protecting other children like him from gun violence.

Thank you for all you do – you are powering our lifesaving work.

With love,

Nicole Hockley (Dylan's mom)

P.S. Friday, June 4, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day – when we wear orange to honor the lives taken by gun violence and show our commitment to saving lives. I'll be reaching out soon with more information about how you can take part this year.
