OMG! OMG! OMG! Worms in your eyes! And there's different ways these slithery little suckers can make your eyes their new home. OMG! OMG! OMG!

So, let's start with the local Tampa guy that discovered worms in his eyes. ( https://www.abcactionnews.com/news/local-news/exclusive-brain-eating-worm-grows-in-florida-mans-eye?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark ) Sam Cordero has what doctors call Taenia Solium, more commonly called a pork tapeworm. The tapeworm passes to humans from consuming raw pork or through contact with fecal matter.

Doctors say some extremely rare cases the worm will travel through your intestines, into your bloodstream and embed itself in your brain or eye ball. The parasite has to be removed before it dies because it could cause Cordero to go blind. However, what is far worst is if it doesn’t die and releases more larvae the parasite could travel to Cordero’s brain.

The second report of eye worms making the rounds is even scarier in that its spread by flies! OMG!

Abby Beckley of Oregon, said she felt an irritation in her for about a week, like she had an eyelash in her eye but when she took a close look in the mirror and found a wriggling, translucent worm, about a half-inch long. And it wasn't the only one in her eye. OMG!

Beckley removed four of these worms before heading to the doctor. They said this infestation in her eye is common in cattle not humans. "The worms typically infect cattle when flies carrying them land to feed on tears. The case report says doctors think Beckley may have been infected by a fly that landed on her eye while she was riding horses or fishing near a region of Oregon where cattle farming occurs."

Those pesky flies! I always knew they were up to no good.

So what have we learned? Don't eat raw pork and wash your hands because of fecal matter that may carry the worms; and do not allow any flies land near your eyes!  Where's my fly swatter? ~grace
