This week, City Commissioners appointed Bill Hollimon to fill Seat 1 on the City’s Independent Ethics Board. Hollimon’s term will begin on January 1, 2018. Seat 1 is the only position filled by the City Commission.

Hollimon will serve a three-year term from Jan. 1, 2018, to Dec. 31, 2020, and be eligible for reappointment to a second term.

Hollimon has been a practicing lawyer for more than 20 years. Since 2010, he has owned his own firm, focusing on patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution and litigation; mediation of complex litigation; strategic planning and guidance for technology related businesses; Florida Public Service Commission and other administrative law proceedings; and general commercial litigation. Prior to his legal career, he worked as an engineer in the utility industry.

Hollimon will work with existing Ethics Board members Cecil Davis, State Attorney appointee; Richard Herring, Florida State University appointee; Bryan Smith, Florida A&M University appointee; Bruce D. Grant, board appointee; and Renee McNeill, board appointee.

The next Ethics Board meeting will be held on December 19 at 4 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, located on the second floor of City Hall, 300 S. Adams St.

The mission of the Independent Ethics Board is to promote the actual and perceived integrity of City government and to prevent unethical conduct before it occurs.
